In Memorium: Zeke Hasenfeld

The Academy regrets the passing of 2013 Fellow Yeheskel (Zeke) Hasenfeld, a well known researcher in social work.  Dr. Hasenfeld was professor emeritus at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.  Prior to that he was an associate dean at Michigan’s School of Social Work.

He earned a number of career awards and honors and was considered an expert in social welfare, policies and welfare organizations.

“Zeke was a pioneer in the field of human service organizations”, said Laura Abrams, chair of the social welfare department in the UCLA Luskin School.

“He was a scholar and theorist who changed our understanding of how clients interface with the welfare state and its bureaucracies. The study of human service organizations is forever changed by his scholarship.”
