Rona L. Levy, MSW, PhD, MPH

Current Position

Professor and Associate Dean for Research, Director Behavioral Medicine Research Group, School of Social Work, University of Washington, Seattle Washington, USA

Dr. Levy has a longstanding and productive research record in the investigation of individual and social factors related to indicators of health and illness symptoms. Her research in this area has spanned from observational studies of familial genetic and behavioral patterns to intervention studies designed to reduce the experience and impact of medical conditions. She has received several major National Institutes of Health grants to investigate interventions aimed at altering parent and child responses to chronic pain and determining psychological, biological, and societal moderators of treatment response. Current research includes studies of prevention, social determinants of health, and app development to expand care accessibility. Dr. Levy is also a fellow of the American Pain Society, American Psychological Association, American Psychological Society, Society of Behavioral Medicine, American Gastroenterological Association and American College of Gastroenterology, among others
