N. Andrew Peterson, Ph.D., is Professor of Social Work and Director of the Center for Prevention Science at Rutgers University. He also is Co-Director of the SAMHSA-funded Prevention Technology Transfer Center for Region II, serving New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He also was elected Fellow of the Society for Community Research and Action. He has been conducting applied research on community interventions for more than 25 years. Much of this work has focused on building the capacity of community-based organizations and coalitions, particularly those addressing the harmful consequences of substance abuse.
