Namkee G. Choi, PhD

Namkee Choi is Professor and the Louis and Ann Wolens Centennial Chair in Gerontology in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. She has widely published in the areas of social service utilization and mental health among older adults. Her current research focuses on depression in late life and the development and evaluation of effective tele-delivered psychosocial interventions for depression among low-income older adults and aims at integrating mental health services and technology in aging service agencies that serve low-income older adults. She has served on the national program advisory committees of the Hartford Geriatric Social Work Doctoral Fellowship and Faculty Scholars Programs and on the NIA study section as a standing member. She was the recipient of The University of Texas at Austin Joe and Bettie Branson Ward Excellence Award for Research, Teaching, or Demonstration Activities that Contribute to Changes for Positive Value to Society in 2007, and the recipient of The University of Texas at Austin David Austin Award for Excellence in Social Work Research in 2012.
