Matthew O. Howard, Ph.D., is the Daniels Distinguished Professor at the School of Social Work at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Howard currently serves as North American Editor of the British Journal of Social Work, and was formerly Editor-in-Chief of Social Work Research and the Journal of Social Services Research.
Dr. Howard has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles in the mental health and substance abuse areas and served as Principal Investigator of three National Institutes of Health grants. He has won numerous awards for teaching excellence and provided expert consultation to the DSM-5 Substance Use Disorders Committee, Office of National Drug Control Policy, National Institutes of Health, and Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
