Gerald Mallon, DSW

Gerald P. Mallon, DSW, is the Associate Dean of Scholarship and Research, Julia Lathrop Professor of Child Welfare, and Executive Director of the National Center for Child Welfare Excellence at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in New York City. For more than 39 years, Dr. Mallon has been a child welfare practitioner, advocate, educator, and researcher. Dr. Mallon was the first child welfare professional in the country to research, write about, and create programs for LGBTQ youth in child welfare settings.
Dr. Mallon is the Senior Editor of the professional journal Child Welfare and the author or editor of more than twenty-four books. His most recent publication, co-edited with Peg Hess, is Child welfare for the twenty-first century: A Handbook of practices, policies, and programs published by Columbia University Press in 2014.
