Dr. Colleen Galambos, PhD, MSW is Helen Bader Endowed Chair in Applied Gerontology, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. She directs the Office of Applied Gerontology, and conducts interdisciplinary research to understand and address health, social, community, and service needs among older adults and caregivers. She served on study sections for NSF and DHHS, participated in National Academies of Sciences Engineering and Medicine Consensus Study Committees and the National Academy of Medicine’s Vital Directions project. She was Editor-in-Chief for Health and Social Work and The Journal of Social Work Education and served as the NASW Aging Practice Section Chair. She served on numerous Boards and Advisory Committees including NASW, International Society for Gerontechnology (North America), The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organization PTAC for Long Term Care, and the Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administrators. She co-authored 4 books and published more than 140 journal articles, book chapters, and other publications. She is honored with numerous awards including: Milwaukee Business Journal Women of Influence Award, 2020; Excellence in Research Award, Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, 2020; University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing Honorary Alumni Award, 2017; NASW Pioneer,2016; Gerontological Society of America Fellow, 2013.
