Charles A Emlet, Ph.D., MSW is Professor of Social Work at the University of Washington (UW) Tacoma and affiliate faculty with the UW Center for AIDS Research. Dr. Emlet’s research focuses on vulnerable populations of older adults, particularly focusing on older adults living with HIV as well as those who identify as sexual and gender minorities. His research has been funded by the NIH, the John A. Hartford Foundation, the University of Washington, the Canadian Government and the United States Fulbright Commission. He is currently a co-investigator on the National Health, Aging and Sexuality/Gender study (NHAS) and the Innovations in Dementia Empowerment and Action (IDEA) study. In 2013 Dr. Emlet was a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Research Chair at McMaster University in Ontario Canada and has received the University of Washington Tacoma’s Distinguished Research and Distinguished Community Engagement Awards.
